View this webinar to learn about the social dimensions of watershed management and how understanding farmers can help increase the adoption of conservation practices.
This webinar provides an overview and background for social indicators related to resource management, the development process for social indicators in EPA Region 5, and a case study from the Little Calumet-Gallien Watershed in NW Indiana. Insights from the case study include how the size of a farming operation affects a producer's perception of environmental issues, where farmers get conservation information, and the types of conservation practices they are willing to implement. The webinar concludes with a demonstration of SIDMA: Social Indicators Data Management and Analysis Tool, an online system that uses statistical and spatial relationships to help organize, analyze, and visualize social indicators related to nonpoint source management efforts. This webinar presents social aspects of conservation adoption to support activities in the Mississippi River Basin Healthy Watersheds Initiative.
This webinar is sponsored by the USDA NRCS East National Technology Support Center.
