Participate in this webinar to learn about the use of conservation buffers on organic farms to attract and sustain beneficial insects and on-farm biodiversity.

Beneficial insects provide crucial pollination and pest control services in organic farming systems. This webinar will explore the use of conservation buffers to help producers attract and sustain beneficials, and how these same buffers and associated cropping practices can help meet the natural resource and biodiversity conservation criteria of the National Organic Program. Our webinar presenter will give details on design and installation considerations for buffer practices, and summaries of how USDA NRCS programs and practices – such as the Pollinator and Beneficial Insect Habitat Enhancement under the Conservation Stewardship Program, or Hedgerow Planting (422), Field Borders (386), and Conservation Cover (327) contracted under the Environmental Quality Incentives Program – can be used to provide financial and technical support. Experts from the Xerces Society will also share information on technical guidance available to conservation planners and landowners.

In the Understanding Organic Agriculture series, this webinar is presented by USDA NRCS Science and Technology.
