This module will discuss important concepts of soil pH and lime management in agronomic systems for profitable crop production.
This module is part eight in a series of 10 that present information to help the viewer understand the principles of soil pH and lime management. The materials address site specific nutrient management decisions and practices through the context of 4R Nutrient Stewardship (the right nutrient source applied at the right time, the right rate and in the right place). Information is presented on negative effects of acidic soils; testing for soil pH; managing soil pH for alkaline soils; and, managing soil pH for acidic soils.
These materials were created with funds provided by USDA NRCS and The Fertilizer Institute (TFI). The educational modules were created by Iowa State University in cooperation with The Fertilizer Institute (TFI), the International Plant Nutrition Institute (IPNI) and USDA NRCS.
