Since 1991, the Penn State Extension Urban Forestry Program has delivered a variety of programs from land use workshops and arborist short courses to Tree Tender trainings and municipal stormwater workshops. Multi-county, regional urban foresters were able to bring new audiences to Extension as they provided assistance to municipal officials, tree commissions, volunteer groups, engineers and planners in an effort to create sustainable community forestry programs in large urban cities and small rural townships. Learn how the Extension urban forestry program was born out of a unique partnership and continues today because of the success of its outreach and strong collaborations with other organizations and state agencies.
